Windows Updates Take Too Long!

I just installed the 2021-07 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 21H1 for x64-base Systems (KB5004296) and that turned out to be a long and arduous process. Ugh!

Just after 1PM (1300 in my brain), I chose to download and install 2021-07 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 21H1 for x64-base Systems.

The download went OK, then it seemed to install and reached 100% just after 1330 (call it twenty minutes later). After waiting a few more minutes, I was fed up: expecting, but not getting, the restart notification.

Thinking that this was another crazy double-install, that seems to plague Windows updates, I took a snapshot of Windows Update at 13:42:

Sure enough, a couple minutes later, the install percentage dropped from 100 to 21. Ugh, again!

By 14:10, it had progressed to 74%.

Finally, at 14:14, the second install finished . . .

So: did this update really install twice? If so, why?

Once again, my choice to use Linux Slackware as my main OS!

Happy Slacking,
Stu…
