Just grab these files:

firefox.moz_plugin_path.diff.gz
firefox.png
mimeTypes.rdf.gz
mozilla-firefox-mimeTypes-fix.diff.gz
mozilla-firefox.SlackBuild
mozilla-firefox.desktop
slack-desc

Then grab the source from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/8.0.1/source/

File:firefox-8.0.1.source.tar.bz2
File:firefox-8.0.1.source.tar.bz2.asc

Make mozilla-firefox.SlackBuild executable:

chmod a+x mozilla-firefox.SlackBuild

Then run it

./mozilla-firefox.SlackBuild

With any luck, you’ll end up with a package in /tmp called: mozilla-firefox-8.0.1-x86_64-1_slack13.37.txz

P.S. SeaMonkey 2.5 builds just fine with the SlackBuild stuff from ftp://slackware.oregonstate.edu/pub/slackware/slackware64-13.37/patches/source/seamonkey/ and the source from Mozilla.

Instead of the beautifully simple normal site, I see a silly parked-domain-style landing page. Eeek!

After a little poking around, I found the server still holding the real site at: http://64.57.102.34/

Perhaps I panicked. My hope is that this update to the DNS entries for slackware.com is a mistake, an oversight. It is, after all, the holidays and I’ve heard that some people do have lives!

P.S. I finally noticed the notice: “slackware.com expired on 12/25/2010 and is pending renewal or deletion” on the parking page. Since the whois info shows an update on 12/31/2010, I hope this means that the issue is currently being resolved!
